From small steps,
big futures are made

Incorporated Educational Institution Meishu Gakuen Kyoto Shoei High School
The area around the school is filled with the beauty of each season, from cherry blossoms in spring, the scent of tea in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and the tranquil scenery of winter. It is a scenic area dotted with the world heritage sites of Byodoin Temple, Ujigami Shrine, Koshoji Temple, and Manpuku-ji Temple which is the head temple of the Obaku sect, and is crowded with hikers and tourists seeking the romance of Genji throughout the year. In addition, as it is located in Lake Biwa Quasi-National Park, the area is rich in nature and requires strict conservation of the natural environment.
Located in such a scenic location, our school is the only private full-time credit-based high school in Kyoto, with a history of over 35 years since its establishment in 1984. The school has adopted the techniques and teachings of Shorinji Kempo into its education to reflect the founder of Shorinji Kempo, Mr. Sodoshin who advocated “half for one's own happiness and half for the happiness of others”.
The goal of our school's education is to help the young people who will lead the next generation to improve themselves, develop a spirit of self-cooperation and consideration for others, and develop human beings who can aim to build a peaceful and livable society.
Learning at Shoei
4 courses tailored to each individual's needs
Advanced course “Super Sophia” SS Class
We aim to pass the entrance exams to 4-year universities in the current school year, including national and public universities and difficult private universities. We offer long-term study based on 7-hour of classes on weekdays and 4-hour of classes on Saturdays. We aim to improve students' levels according to their individual goals and abilities.
We strive to help students achieve their career aspirations by providing instruction that is directly linked to entrance exams.
Super Sophia Class Points
Supportive learning
Each student has different goals for the university they want to enroll in, as well as different areas of strength and weakness. Therefore, homeroom teachers frequently meet with students to create a custom-made learning menu according to each student's academic ability and career aspirations, while checking their academic growth, stumbling blocks, and progress. We are devising ways to help students approach their learning in a positive attitude while building on their successes with small steps.
We are working on "supportive learning", in which teachers carefully monitor students' progress and any stumbling blocks and allow students to ask questions as soon as they want..
Career Goals
● Sophomore: "Look carefully where your own footsteps fall"
As the name suggests, we focus on "looking at what is right in front of you". By taking various certifications and mock exams, students are able to grasp their academic standing, while at the same time building up the physical strength and lifestyle rhythm required to keep up with the advanced curriculum of high school, 7-hour classes, and after-school study.
● Junior: "Self-establishment"
Taking full advantage of the advantages of small class sizes, teachers and students interact carefully with each other to create a learning style that meets individual characteristics and career goals. Through repeated trial and error, students will develop self-discipline and the mental strength to face difficulties.
● Senior: "Synergy between self and others"
By contributing to those around you by doing what you can, and achieving what you cannot do with the help of those around you, you aim to reach heights that you cannot reach alone. We will transform the thoughts of those around us into feelings of gratitude and encouragement, and aim to realize our career paths while helping each other improve.

In consultation with many teachers, students create and study an original curriculum for their own future.
Establishing basic academic skills through thorough "relearning"
● Future Development Course from the Junior
Students can study “freely” and “professionally” through a thorough “relearning” to establish basic academic skills. For example, students can combine “Physical Education” and “Art” subjects in order to pursue early childhood education, or “Art” and “Information” subjects in order to acquire information transmission skills. In addition, students can take elective classes during the 7th period and special courses (Saturdays) to increase their learning up to 16 credits.
"Future Development Course" Liberal arts, Science, Physical Education, Arts, and Information/8 hours per week
Free Academy / FA Class
A class that opens the door to the future with a unique curriculum
[Basic] A student who had a tendency to not attend school during junior high school.
[Exceed] Students who want to spend their school life seriously in a calm learning environment even if they have never been absent from school.
We will provide a special learning program for the above students
This is a class where students aim to graduate from high school, pursue their own career path, go to university or vocational school, and find employment. We also place great importance on vertical connections that transcend the boundaries of grade levels. We provide detailed support to students who want to "change and transform" themselves and who are able to seriously spend their school life.
" Unique curriculum "
For Basic, students can earn 84 credits by attending 25 hours a week (Monday to Friday: 3rd to 7th periods), a study camp (August), and ski lessons (January). For Exceed, classes start from the first period and the instruction focuses on preparing students for university admission.
